EPOC I have used this wireless adapter before on an old desktop w/ no internal wireless.  It worked fine with the internet I have right now.

So I'll just go ahead and buy this.  I have 200 dollars so I'm 68 short.

No excuses Sam. You need a job. It's a readily available job. And you can pay for your computer in just a few days of the work.

Also gonna snow I think, easy 40-50

As for wireless adapters, you could always get one that is not a pci type, and go for the smaller usb models. [link]

The wireless adapter you mentioned was compatible with wireless g, but I am not certain if your router would support it.  However the one I mentioned does support g/b/n wireless, which still supports g as well as b and n, the other two wireless frequencies that are used today.

Computers do not have problems, they have users

as for the updating.....first thing I would suggest is to verify the time AND date are accurate.....but sometimes honestly they have issues updating for stupid reasons and fixing the issue is pretty much impossible since they made it so you cant remove and reinstall windows update....

Getting your new computer?

I already said 50 more dollars.  Yes pretty close.

Ok EPOC I know this comp doesn't come with adapter now, but wireless will work with one.  I am pretty damn sure that my router is g capable, if not I'll buy the cope57 adapter which I have bookmarked.

Edit:  Crap I have gotta buy a mic too...

Oh okay. It should be fairly easy to buy a microphone, considering the market for computer merchandise is off the chart high. So, a new mic should cost you about $25-$50 (TOPS.)

I would not suggest a microphone, but rather a headset that has two headphones and a built in microphone.

Maybe something like these?
V7-Stereo-Headset-Black
Inland-Pro-1000-Lightweight-Stereo-Headset
Genius-HS-02B-Stereo-Headset
Coby-Multimedia-Digital-Stereo-Headphones-CVM361
FileMate-H2100-Stereo-Headset
Gearhead Behind the Neck Stereo Headset with Microphone

Not to say you should purchase any of them, but to show that there are some low priced headsets out there.
Just because it is from Walmart, it does not always give you the lowest price.  Here is the same Gearhead headset available at TigerDirect for $6.99 compared to Walmarts $11.06.  You do the math, my zip code I would pay shipping of $3.72, and the total would be $10.71.  Still cheaper than picking it up at Walmart.  Not to say Walmart is bad, just stating it is best to shop around.  Even RadioShack has the Gearhead headset for $9.99, but shipping is $6.99.  Newegg has headsets also...  There is a Rosewill RH-001 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Multimedia Stereo Headset for $5.99 with $2.99 shipping.  Total $8.98

Your headphone choice is just a matter of preference, just like selecting a PC.  You will choose the one that suits you best, for the price you can afford.
