I'm thinking to making some "custom" maps in general...just need the software.

Now...Where to get those-

Gonna have to download a program for that...Just need to know where.

I'm thinking of a urban area...or something with the basic map settings & stuff.

But thats not all.

I want to add some...Interesting features to the map; like ways the player can die via "HAZARD".
Might have to look into some other features though.
I'm thinking of a "HAZARD" that "SHOOTS" you.

Gonna have to figure out how to do that first.

Learning to map for urban terror is a very depressing process. You come in with all these great ideas. And one by one find out you CAN'T do it. CAN'T do it.

Got the idea from Deathrun map on Urban Terror...and another source not related to Urban Terror.
Idea is of a map thats inside a military base, though it will wave points where a MR.SENTRY can be activated to guard a area, other than that, it will be kinda basic...

Need to figure out how I'm gonna do all that first...

Originally, I was thinking of having a modified team-deathmatch gametype to go along with it and the map being kinda huge.
Like Blue team must stop Red team from breaching the base -ect.(Long details on that idea)
Though I don't think that the original idea would be practical...without players downloading a lot of software & stuff just to play it...

You would have to get a modeler to make a .md3 for each of the models and then for the mr_sentry set it as the model key.

its plausible, but it would definitely be an FPS killer.

Seeing the maps ut4_dealey_b2,ut4_blackhawk, and ut4_intercity got me to think about a map with vehicles.

Other that ground vehicles, I was think about putting helicopters in it...
Though, If I could get them to move from place to place might be great for gameplay-kinda...but, the moving helicopter on ut4_blackhawk had its gliches with moving...though, then again- how fast it moves might have something to do with it.

Idea for "SPECIAL" helicopter: make a model of the helicopter (see attachments), passenger compartment with opening doors- also player spawn area. Attach a MR. SENTRY at front of craft. Look into the ability to fire unguided rockets-or modifed hk69 40mm shoots-from the rocket pods mounted on the wings <- Might run into problems there.
The mounter MR.SENTRY seems like the only probable way to give the helicopter offensive capability.
Though- rockets would be COOL...and would be obvious over kill.

The some what lazy way to get a vehicle to shoot a player would be to mount a MR.SENTRY on it.

Another way would be to have a .md3 model and MR.SENTRY as the model key. <- not yet tried or proven, but possible

But, say you want a tank to blow the players up when they get into its sights...
I think it might be possibe, if you truely know how... I got a theory on how to do it though.

First off- You'd have to some-how modify a MR.SENTRY to fire a different weapon.
Then use a vehicle .md3 model with that modified MR.SENTRY as the model key "could" produce various results....
A tank for instance, maybe able to fire a hk69(mod)rocket...though, it may not be able to traverse the turret.

Though I got a idea for a vehicle .md3 model...it would in could a number of model parts with MR.SENTRY as their model key...add modifed MR.SENTRY as those model keys and the result is something that would kick ***
(Real results may vary)
The whole idea is centered around a map .md3 model of the B3-X, which has couple of armaments.
Armament for the .md3 model would be:
MR.SENTRY Machine gun - forward facing with turret rotation of at least 180 degrees (substituting the 22mm MG.)
2 Missile/Rocket launchers; using the modified MR.SENTRY model key armed with the hk69(mod) rocket.
Cannon; Modified MR.SENTRY model key armed with a "SPECIAL" hk69 mod (substitutes the 200mm beam cannon)
[Note: Vehicle model's armaments would probable be added sub-models that shoot. I've seen the "SPECIAL" mod for the hk69 in a server once...Though, on a model such as described...just the cannon use would be "ABOVE OVERKILL"]
