If you were given moderator or rcon access to manage a server in-game then yes you can use this application. I would like to point out that even tho this program was written for the 1up clan and has the moderator system built in, anyone who has rcon access to a urban terror server can take advantage of the rcon system used in this application not just 1up members, support however will be limited to 1up server moderators and administrators only.

Very nice program, have it set up with the servers I have rcon/mod access to... the join server feature is nice as well because Ramb prefers if all major rcon commands, (bans, etc) come from a player actually on the server and unalliased since he tracks and logs all rcon commands :D

Just figured I'd mention a small bug I found... not a big deal but something to possibly look at for a future release.

If you mod connect to a server (example 1up Fun) then use the drop down menu in the top right to switch to a server you have RCON on (for me wTf San Diego) (or vice versa) it remains in the mod connect (or rcon connect) mode... you need to close and reconnect in order to switch between mod and rcon connected servers... Basically it's either in RCON mode of Moderator Mode and you need to reload the program to switch between the two...Hopefully I worded that ok :P

That is actually a feature not a bug because the program has no way of knowing which mode you want to use on the fly like that so the program must be restated in whatever mode you wish to use for that session and will continue to use that mode until the session is over (much the same way this forum works, you cannot log in as 2 different users at the same time in the same window you first have to log out and login as another user) anyway I may consider adding a "mode switch" feature at later date but it prob will not be until version 2.  Thx for the input tho :)

Ahhh, that makes sense,  I though it might switch modes it based on which of the two passwords are present in the server info (since you should only have one normally, either RCON or mod and not both)... Something like checking if the RCON password string is null/empty then checking if the mod pass string is null/empty,  Whichever one isn't null is the mode used, if both are null it would be an error... Just some brainstorming from one programmer to another :)  In anycase it's well done for a first release, I'm excited to see more :D

Thanks again for the reply and people like me, ron, & zhalix have both an rcon passowrd as well as a mod password for all servers and I have them both filled in on the connection screen and sometimes ron likes to use the mod mode (mainly for testing I assume) even tho he has rcon access to a server. Thats the main reason I did not use a system like the one your talking about. It would trivial to implement tho and I did think about it but decided to use this one instead.

Thanks again tho for the kind words everyone I hope it works out well for everyone.

I figured as much, the main administrators would have both... maybe a default to RCON on a switch if both are present would work... in any case it's really not a big deal to close and open the program again :P  Maybe a menu item back to the connect screen under the file menu, lol... :D  Can you tell I do a decent amount of coding at school :P

If like FedoraMike said, you mean "live chat" then the only way that could be accomplished is to parse the log files the server generates when a player types a message. This would require an additional server to store the logs in realtime. This could be done but would quickly drain the resources of the gameserver (Think B3 Bot) and unless you have your own dedicated server most hosting companies will not allow you to use their resources like that because it put a drain on other gameservers hosted on the same system. To summarize, it can be done, but requires a dedicated server with lots of resources to accomplish.

Commendable job on The RCON Commander, it's well thought out and easy to use.

Suggestion:
- Couple function I use with "Fragomatic's RCON Commander" is the "Auto-Query Status", and "Save Console Log".  I Understand this information is saved in the servers logs, but it may be something to think about adding in future versions.

Bottom Line:
- Thanks for being such a positive influence in the UrT community. We FSK405 members enjoy devouring your maps and tools. If your ever in need for some help with any projects feel free to drop us a line.

Thanks for the kind words and by auto query status do you mean it issues a status command automatically when you connect to a server ? If so then you can already do that just check the option to "send status command on connect" I made this optional because some people might not want to issue the command each time they connect but it's there for those that do. If you mean something else then let me know.

As far as saving the log to a file I am not really sure of the benefit that would bring since most gaming servers save a console log to their system which can be downloaded at any time you wish. If you mean saving the console window text that the application uses then you can do that already as well by clicking on the save icon under the console window and saving the entire console to a text file. Again if you mean something else entirely then please let me know and thanks once again and hope you find it useful.

Cheers,
Tesla[1up]

.:Clarification:. For Tesla[1up]

- Auto Query Status: will automatically update the the server "Status" in predefined intervals showing "Players Slot Number/IP's" . Such as updating once a minute.

- Save Console Log: Will create a continuous .txt log file logging "Time Stamps/Players Slot Number/ IP's", as Auto Query Status attains info.

- Put them together: you have a poor mans server log on your home computer for a quick reference. Mind you I completely understand all this information is tracked in the server logs. Function RCON users have used in the past.  I have found it useful to look up a player quickly without having to download the server log file. I will admit B3 "Big Brother Bot" and its Web Gui add-on tool "Echelon" is the most efficient way to track and view all of the servers actions, but that's getting a bit off topic.

Regardless Mighty fine job with your commander, its clean, looks great, and is easy to use.  We FSK405'rs will definitely add it to the tool box.

See ya in the server, thanks again.

First off  let me thank you for your hard work and diligence in creating this tool!  Well done.

I have been testing your application on our FSK405 servers for the past week.  I like DankRider have been using Fragomatic's rcon tool for the past umpteen years, so that is the closest thing I have for a comparison.  As they seem to do many of the same things your tool is better laid out and is by far easier to teach Rcon to newer users.   Not to mention as far as I can tell, Fragomatic is not developing his tool anymore.  It is what it is.  That being said your tool has a huge upside.  I do have some suggestions if you are willing to lend an ear.

Suggestion:
I have not been able to figure out how to add commands to the Auto-complete without manually editing your RconCmd.db, which BTW works well.  Is there a way you can create a method to allow easy additions to this db?  Maybe under the Menu → Tools → Auto-Complete list.

Additional commands that are used on FSK servers listed below:
g_allowvote
g_gear
g_hotpotato
g_knockback
g_password
g_respawndelay
g_respawnprotection
g_waverespawns
g_redwave
g_bluewave

Suggestion 2:
I have a visual impairment/issue with black/white.  Would you consider making it where the user can select alternative background and text colors within the console?   This is would be a nice feature request for a future release.

Once again, I am excited to see people put forth the effort to keep UrT alive.  You have made it easy for us older guys to teach server administration to the newer folks. Keep up the great work and if you ever need to find Dank or Me we are always in our TS2 (Soon moving to TS3) at:
TS2 Server Address:  fsk405.com

ps.  I also use the features that Dank spoke about in his previous posts but didn't want to beat that horse... Auto-Status-Refresh and Poor-mans Server log...etc.

Not a problem and glad it works for you all. I was going to say there already is a easier way to add new commands using the commands window but you figured it out already. As far as customizing the background color for the console window then I can do that not a problem however since the console is a RichEdit control the text color is automatically determined by the background color of the editor itself and to change it I would have to hack into the Windows RichEdit control which would change the color system wide (not something I really want to impose on people) so unfortunately I will have to leave that part out but I will add an option to change the background color as well as the color for those that are interested.

I will  consider adding the other options as well since both of them would not be very hard to do at all. I will prob release the next version in the next couple of weeks so look out for it and thanks again for the nice words.

Cool stuff Tesla, I must say I like it.

The only problem I'm having is that ctrl+c does not work to copy anything out of the console window. I don't know if it's a bug or just an issue on my end, but crtl+c works in every other program I have. It really isn't a big issue because I can just as easily right click the selected text to copy it, I just thought you might want to know.

As the helpfile says the program was created for windows based OS's only since I am using alot of OS specific calls however with a virtual machine such as WINE on Linux or Bootcamp on Mac it may be possible but has not been tested and support will not be offered on those platforms.

I'd be willing to help port it to Java if Tesla[1up] is interested. I am pretty good with Java and Swing, and since we have so many people in the clan with OS X, Windows, Linux, it might be beneficial? Just a thought.

I just ran the auto update again and did not experience this however all bug reports need to go to the proper place.

From the helpfile...

If you have questions that were not answered in this help file then please visit one of the links below and someone will try to assist you. If submitting a bug report then please include the following information with your email.

- A detailed description of the problem including the steps needed to reproduce the problem.
- The version of the program you are using. You can find this in the status bar of the main ModRcon window.
- Your operating system version such as Windows XP or Windows7.
- Your connection type such as DSL/Cable or dialup.
- A optional screenshot of any windows or error messages that are displayed when the problem occurred.
- Any other information that you think may be helpful.

email to send bug reports to. bugs@1upclan.info

Additionally, The updater automatically deletes the setup file when it's finished installing (this is by design to save space on a users system) and I will not be changing that. If anyone wants a copy of the installer they can manually download it from the download link in the first post.

I used the update link, and got an "I/O Error" from your program, but after I clicked OK, the update seems to have run OK and seems to work. Love the quick commands menu on the player info list!

Tesla[1up]

Isolated as in just me? Or as in just that one update? Cause it happened again. It's like after the update window finishes and tries to re-run the program, then it shows, then I click OK, then it shows the servers to connect to dialog. Like it's having trouble on the last thing the update writes to the disk? I don't remember the 145 in there last time, so I guess you decided to label your error messages this time, good thinking!

IO Error #145 simply means the directory is not empty. The last thing the installer does is deletes itself which is probably causing this error message to display. I cannot reproduce it but I can work with the code to see if I can eliminate the message from displaying which is harmless by the way and will not effect the program in anyway. Thanks for the report tho it's always helpful to know what is going on when something goes wrong :)

I apologize about the late reply and you may have figured this out already but anything that you say using bigtext needs to be surrounded with quotation marks if you are going to say more than one word.

Example 1. /mod bigtext "hello world" <-- needs quotes
Example 2. /mod bigtext hi <--- doesn't need quotes since it's just one word.

These guidelines are setup in the games exe file itself and not the modrcon app so you will need to follow them no matter what application you are using.

Tesla designed ModRcon, and deserves the credit. I simply ported it in another language. Glad you find it useful though, I hope to finish it and release 1.0 one of these days, but I've taken a break from it for a few months.
