TanK's Mapping Tutorial: Volume 1

Due to the Volume of people telling me they want to map but don't know where to start, I decided to write a thorough tutorial addressing the question. This tutorial will walk you through the basics from setting everything up to making your first map. If I've left anything out, please comment. I would like to improve this tutorial as well as create more advanced tutorials.

I would like experienced mappers to look over this as well.

I wuv u tank but i have  problem
once i compile and try to play the map it says cannot find ut4_1stmap.bsp      >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( was on 4 like an hour trying to fix  >:( >:( >:( >:(

-critical update-

you will need the entities from urban terror to show up in your entity list.
to do this you need an updated entity definition file

this file is attached to this post

place this file in your gtk radiant 1.5.0\q3.game\baseq3 folder

for instance mine looks like c:\program files\GTK Radiant 1.5.0\q3.game\baseq3\urban terror.def

if this works, you will see "ut" in the entities drop down menu. this contains all of the weapons and items. Also, under info, you will see a info_ut_spawn entity. this is used for spawning teams in UT

to set the team, use key "team" and value "team color" red or blue of course i,e "red"

I will make another tutorial covering compiling more thoroughly to make sure everything is working right on EVERYONES computers
