Title: MilkShape Textures
Post by: TurbanError on June 08, 2011, 12:11:46 PM
I am working on a model.  I set up my UVs and textures in maya, export as an obj for milkshape.  Everything seems fine in milkshape, I export as an md3 model, making a control file first.  This is where something is wrong, or I am missing a step.

After reimporting the md3 model, it doesn't seem to still have the textures, the UVs are still in the right place but the material has changed to none.  I have been playing around with the qc file with little success.  I am new to milkshape, realistically I only wanted to use it as an intermediary for its native md3 support (I am going to be trying a few 3dsmax scripts).  Does anyone have any idea what I could be missing?

Edit: To clarify, it is not trying to find a texture in a incorrect path in milkshape (from what I can tell), it appears that something in my export process fails to include a path for the texture.
Edit: Another note, I am going through guides to make shaders, I want to learn how to get this working without shaders more for my own knowledge and I am not entirely sure at the moment how shaders interact with mesh that isn't square.

I can import obj files fine, they still have the textures/materials.  Later today I will upload an example of an obj and my exported md3/qc.

(edit: ugh back to back 15 hour workday... just got back... must sleep... then post)

if you are tying to import an .md3, I am 75% sure that textures dont go with them

it is added through shaders when input into a game.

(I am not the greatest guy with file extensions)
