Blender is the epitomy of amazing. I flipping LOVE Blender. If you have some free time, definately take a look, especially if you're looking at beginning to model with professionality.

BTW Flame, I solved my GE dilemma :D
What I wanted to do was build a vehicle system, and I thought it would be nearly impossible, but thanks to your help I got it working! TYSSM!

I'll build a demo in a week or so and post it up on the forums. Look for it!

Here's a female model I'm currently modeling, texturing, and rigging. Low-poly game model. Still need to work a little on the form of the foot, but aside from that I'm reasonably happy with the modeling. Texturing work is still in the beginning phase obviously, and I haven't started on the rigging yet.
Around 4000 poly's

I know I tend to, prefer not to do it for Screenshots becuase its not how it would render for a export of the .md3/.md5 format or .obj

Well in that case you can just bake out the smoothed normals, or even take the model into mudbox or ZBrush or similar and sculpt a bit before baking out those normals for added win.

If you're going for high poly, I'd add some more edges to the front (and most likely back, but I can't see the back) of the trigger grip. Aside from that, and the parts you haven't worked on (top and back parts mostly from the looks of it), looks pretty good to me :)

Title: Re: A variety of model files, the 2nd
Post by: Rocket on September 09, 2011, 07:11:44 PM
I've attached your image with my suggestions circled or highlighted, with notes on what I would personally do.
Note that these are suggestions, and if you think they are poor suggestions, then feel free to ignore them xD

Just a quick note about the trigger grip (the circled area I said needed more edges); I'm not entirely sure how you managed to get the edges to show up, but also look smooth. It may just be that (blender??) renders smoothed edges differently to maya in the perspective view, but I have a funny feeling you may have several edges grouped close together in those places. If that is the case, then all you need to do is spread out the edges, not add more.
Title: Re: A variety of model files, the 2nd
Post by: Cell[1up] on September 09, 2011, 07:44:43 PM
Good critiques! the handle part(the circled) was somthing i had noticed and will try to fix (thx for reminding me :)  )
The top is actualy a hard metal piece and not much bevel(at least in the ref image, I thought the same as you :)  )

the back is also thin in my ref image but i do need to make it thicker ty for that :)

Title: Re: A variety of model files, the 2nd
Post by: Rocket on September 09, 2011, 09:10:27 PM
Yea, I never used to put bevels on hard edges like that, but I was taught during my course that nothing in the world is a perfect 90deg angle, and if it's high poly, it should be bevelled, even if the bevel is almost too small to see. But that's just how I've been taught.  :P

Np for the critiques. Keep up the updates. Looking good.

any model in Urt has to be less than 1000 verts(its tricky :|)
plus when doing the hold model you got to add in the verts of the 2 hands

Hey that was a test dude. I spent there just half an hour. Anyway creating models for realistic games like urban terror is easier than makin for Quake 3 (it sound impossible). Because in quake 3 is more creative, and you spend 4 days just thinkin about the dimensions, the detail, the skin, the damn bug that don't allow you to export it in MD3, the ligt on, the projectile...

Forgot to mention I did not make the tree texture found it off of a textures site :P, other than that custom made.

Also you do end up with 4 FPS when you use to many particles.

Fire
Smoke
Color(Variables change color good for confetti)
Darkness(Same as color just low values)

I spent 2 days on Dialouge for NPCs, the result is not at all disappointing.

I have it so you can choose who you target (Blue arrow) and then left click to initiate in chat.

The NPC will then read from a file.

Also spent a little of that time making a base NPC class.

Hey guys. been awhile. got some free time to decided to work on a concept from a guy i know. its harder than it looks because of all the curves (thats what she said lol) heres the wip shot and the concept shot.

looks "cartoony" which not saying is a bad thing. it reminds me of alot of games that you see that are F2P....though i cant remember the name of the game im thinking of, i guess torchlight would be a decent alternative. looks pretty good though. You could easily make some decent models and skins for bigger games like Skyrim or L4D2. you should try it. hell prolly even do some good ones for KF, though i think for a KF skin you might have to dull down the graphics a bit, lol
