I have suspended work on ut4_frostbite after so many error which sw00n is helping me with, you will see this map some time in the future, right now this new map ut4_athens is my priority.

I got really excited when i saw pics of athens and thought ("i could easily make those columns lol")

Just Another Update, I spent maybe 30 mins to an hour now and got the first room done without texturing, I'm using Macradiant 1.4 as it is safer to use than 1.5 as it has bobstoolz built-in and much much more, actually it has plug-ins whereas 1.5 does not.........

Here is a screenie of what i have so far..........

That looks great Dougy, I agree with Flame - the lighting thusfar is spot on. The only thing that bugs me slightly is in the last shot on the left side - the base of the pillars goes over the marble edging, personally I think it would look better if the pillars were set back slightly so their bases meet the beginning of the marble edging. If you can be bothered, a Greek key mosaic border would be cool, maybe even a big mosaic in the centre. Google image search shows a decent amount of stuff that could be used as a texture, or there is this: http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/mosaic/mkmosaic.htm Pixellating an image may work too. Ancient Greek 1up mushroom anyone?

Err no it hasnt as people have said ut4_maximus has problems with fps whereas athens wont cause i will caulk, nodraw and hint everything so before saying anything check the urban terror forums :D

theey said its reminiscent of maximus plus im sure maximus dont have a giant statue of atlas now does it?

maybe as another part of the map a massive mountain (as mount olympus maybe) and you could have the sky box all cloudy cause the pillars area wouldn't just be the battlefield would it?

lol true there has been like 4 maps finished from 1up mappers and most of them are tank.
While the other 50 ideas have came and gone.

Oh yeah and ive done some thinking and ive figured out why my maps are all retarted.

When I map I make a box the think of things to fill it with. so my map ends up like a box with obstacles, unlike a professional map for example abbey. Abbey is like a maze with small choke points narrow hallways and not much open areas.

My maps just endup being really open and if one were put on the server it would just end up being a SR8 spawn camp battle.
