This is why i stay off of TS3.. I don't care if the enemy finds their death faster. I just don't like all the noise

Personally, I can see the "head-up" from a teammate IF they're actually playing. Specing the other team and reporting their position every second, is nearly a workaround for tracking a player (multiple players, same IP.... Fun if it really is multiple players on the same IP, but not so if one is the player, and others are just that player's eyes.

Sad thing is, how to tell the difference. The average player can't... so it's hard for them to find a cheat... not as easy even for a 1up who has access to player IPs, as they can't tell for sure, as (best as I know) there's no way to spec a spectator to see if they're just parked, specing and recording, or specing to give away position. To stop the specing makes it easier for a hacker to cheat, which is even worse. It's a mixed bag, but unless you limit concurrent connections per IP address (not good if you have friends, family, or a spouse who likes to play with or against you on the same server)... no easy solution, and unless you want to be as popular as SCOTUS is right now... probably best left as-is.

The average player can't...

The average player has access to the Ts3 server that 1up uses. It is actually posted on the servers themselves. the option to join is always available. Just got to be patient enough to get actual speaking privileges.

Think about it this way Rum, the average UrT player coming in now is somewhere around 8-15 not all of which are:
1. smart enough to find a VOIP client
2. willing to talk join a VOIP server
3. have a mic they can use

No doubt, they have access to it like everyone else, but they are generally to inexperienced, lazy, dim, or some combination of the three to do so.

But Bourbon has a good point, at least to a degree. It makes it much harder on admins, not to mention the fact that it does get frustrating when you know your position is being handed out to the enemy either by team mates or by enemies that can see where you are in order to get back to playing faster.

you dont have to pay for vent. i have run it plenty of times locally. you just need to do a little work to bypass the user limit. BUT TS3 is just a better voip service. you can store files on a TS3 server, uses less bandwidth, custom icons, etc
