haha you should playerclip the sides so we cant fall off, at least in a beta. :D

Im thinking about making a map like this for tdm, but like this:
x=red spawn
o=blue spawn

x-------------o
x-------------o
x-------------o

maybe 5 rows instead of three. a bit unconventional, i have no idea how well itll play. id player and bot clip the sides, so you can only stay in your row, but you can shoot to others. any thoughts?

EDIT: btw, the item blocks are usable. they break and reveal a used item block. any ideas of practical uses? id make them dispense guns but idk how lol

Make them dispense Kevlars. It's a Jump map, so Kevlars are gonna be a pain in the back. :)
What I would do is have a hole in the bottom of the used box, and put a gun in there inside the unused one. Once it breaks, out falls a gun. I dunno, that's how I'd do it...

Haha no, i think im going with the tdm idea. a small update: i resized the textures so that they wont be so flippin blurry. Everything will look much better :)

As you can see, the resized graphics look much better. (i know the block to the top is messed up, im fixing it haha)
Anyway, the springboard looks screwed up. Anyone know how i can make it look better? I want to use the original NES graphics, but i cant think of a way to make it look better

Added bases. might make it playable in ctf mode, but idk where to put the flag that would be fair. The bases connect to all three paths, and you will respawn behind the base. springboards will shoot you up to sniping areas behind the castle. Anyone have an idea of how to make the springboard look better? you can see the problem in the first screenshot

Mostly done. It mostly has just cosmetic changes left, like retexturing a few areas. I need to do the lighting. the lighting i had there already was just for testing so i could see where i was going haha. Any feedback?

OOh i didnt think about that, good idea :)
Ill modify it later, its going through a test build at the moment, and im done for the night after its done. Nobodies told me how to fix the springboard yet! lol
And also, sorry, but i dont need more textures. I was trying to only use sprites from the original super mario bros, and i have like every image from that game lol.
and lurker, im going to add decoration, dont worry :) like i said, most of the remaining work is cosmetic

Haha the problem is the look of it though. the pads work perfectly, i just need to make them look better. The sprite has white areas all around :( Also, i clipped the edges so you cant fall off. Any way to make it so you cant wall jump on them? it ruins the map lol i can practically fly across with wall jumping

You put common>slick over top of it so that you cant walljump (THIS Advise was brought to you by Biohazard)

Can you do a part of the map especially for me or maybe just a concept idea for version2?

I want like green goo/water/acid and when you jump in it its instant death, and on the screen it prints game over and plays the mario music lol

not hard to do just really a concept :D

So i tried adding slick to the outside of the clip brush. it worked, but now i cant shoot past it. One of my favorite things about the map was that you could shoot between the different paths. With slick, i cant shoot past it. Anyone know a way to clip an area without allowing walljumps, but still letting you shoot through it?

well after loads of fiddling around i built something that would come in use to you project, everything you need is in the pk3 including my custom textures,shaders and mario sound with a trigger that prints game over :D

This is supplied by me Dj_Dougy && Biohazard :D

The level has 2 bases. They are on opposite sides of the level. There are 3 narrow paths between them, making it almost like a 3d Mario game. I want the edges clipped so that you can't fall of except in the places I add. I want the edges clipped, and non wall jumpable. I also want to be able to shoot between the 3 paths, and from base to base. Adding slick made the clipping stop weapon fire. I need to clip the edges, disable walljumps from the clips, and still be able to shoot through the clips

that is basically a top down view of the level. It is floating in the middle of a box. I want all the edges clipped, non walljumpable, and I want weapons to shoot through them

Edit: ok it misaligned a bit, but you get the idea

Flags only show up in CTF. if you crack open one of my maps, you will see that all entities are present without any special settings to force them into one game-mode or another. However, you can use Function_wall to block off an area or even just add in geometry to a level such as details (I.e, boxes, vehicles, trees, and entire other level  :P ) for specific game-modes.

Ahaha heres the hard part of whenever i make something. when the basic map is done, and its all fine tuning. Im forcing myself to work on it now >.< And also: Warp pipes. I have some down on the bottom for ffa mode. They link to pipes up on the bottom edge of the bases. Should it launch you out, or leave you in the pipe for sniping?

Just realized i dont have the slightest idea how to use shaders. hahaha. Ive only ever used the common shaders. How do i add it so i can apply the shader in gtk, and how do i package it in the pk3?

Textures >Flush and reload Shaders && it will automatically update

Then you dont put the common.shader in because its already included in urt in the zpak assets anything that is included in urt/zpak assets does not have to be in the pk3 file as it already renders it :D

So say i do common > nodraw i then dont have to put the common shader inside the pk3 because it is already part of urt

All custom textures,scripts,sounds,skyboxes and so on (Everything you make yourself) goes into the pk3 but nothing made out of the zpak assets goes in.
