Title: Sr8 Practice
Post by: Fusion[1upZ] on April 19, 2012, 11:40:14 AM
Setting Up
Fisrt find a map that can support bots-there will be an .aas file in the maps .pk3 file then in the console type in
Code: [Select]
/devmap ut4_[map_name]
next make sure the bots can crash the program but you cant kill them wwith the sr8 hence typing in the console a g_gear setting also the bot you load must be a non sr8 or psg1 bot taking out scorpion and raven i suggest goose as it has h&k 69's. add as many bots as you like but dont go over 30 as your ping will rocket
Code: [Select]
/g_gear 61
/addbot goose 4 red 0 bot
repeat the /addbot to you get the amount of bots you want
Playing
First you will notice that you can sometimes run out of rounds this can be solved by using a cheat as "give all" this will give you 100 magazines of sr8 rounds and every weapon on urt this also evades the g_gear setting so grendades can be seleted it is also advised to drop ALL primary weapons execpt the sr8 at this can cause urt to crash when killed by anything but nades and sr8 however give all is lost at round end so repeat it at the start of every round
Code: [Select]
/give all
/bind x give all
Notes
Locating Bots-
If you have 10+ bots on a large map and cant find the last bots wallhacking is an option since this is a cheat enabled server so in the console type in r_shownormals 1 when close to a bot you can see the distinct outline of the bot running around
Code: [Select]
/r_shownormals 1
Static Bots-
If you really want to improve try NOT to go for bots that are stuck running into a box or wall try going for bots that are moving and try to predict where they are heading
Dropping weapons-
Remeber drop the weapon in a place where the bots cannot get to or they will pick it up and crash the server creating logs that take up alot of computer memory

Thats all hope this helps

I do not recommend this. Bots do not move anything like humans. If you practice with and therefore become accustmed to hitting bots or leading them, you will actually get worse at hitting/leading humans on real servers. Anyone else share this opinion?

pyrite speaks the truth, i can't hit bots at all. in fact they're my worst enemies on the fun server.

I agree the bots will move at random while true players move with focus. Whether shooting at bots or true players I find it is all about timing and matching the shot with the anticipated location of the player once the shot is fired. If my ping stays stable whether in the 60's or 160's as long as I am able to match the motion of the player I can get a good kill shot. Players that stop right before firing a shot are the easiest targets for me along with players who either run or jump across a long clearing which gives me time to learn the timing and movement of that player. The bots move in so many directions it is hard to learn their pattern kind of like playing pacman for those who remember. I also believe the bots are specifically designed to seek me out during the game and kill me with their hack mode. The bots on the other team are often hard to kill and the ones that are on your team bump into you like a dog humping a leg.

Bots... the bane of UrT. Get killed by a bot every 10 seconds, map ends, bots score = 5/53. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?!

Ah but if you practice snapping to their exact location in an instant and fire in an instant.. Where the player intends to go matters not young padawan learner.

The only real good tip to being a good sr8 is to practice, practice, and practice with it every day you play and don't use a secondary.
