I have tried it all still no luck just cant get it to work :-[ anyone can give me help on this please :(

where/when is it saying that?

usually programs give this error when a file or folder has a strange character in it ¥€% for example. try looking through for something like that

when I try to open the installer
where do I look in the file to check for the invalid ''?'' character

Just install it in the root of c: and move it to your program files once it is done installing. urt doesn't have any special files that are hidden is the OS so you can move it easily.

I think you should try reinstalling the game. I got this problem when playing urt (4.2 older versions) and it was because of a corrupt download. Just try reinstalling.

and I am trying to install it on my new computer and it won t let me open the installer :'(

Maybe you don't have permissions or something. Try right clicking the .exe installer and selecting the "run as administrator" option.
Delete the messed up installs. Run a registry cleaner. Then try to install again but not into the x86 folder.

@ ron did that one already it didn't work either I am stuck on this problem the only reason I want it is to install killing floor back on but I cant get steam to work on it :[
I haven't been able to open the installer before it open it gives me the 1324 error

Alright Ratt[1up], I did this for you. All you have to do is download this zip folder then exact it to the folder you want Steam to be installed in, then go into that folder and run (double click) on the Steam.exe --it will then spend some time updating your Steam.

This way Steam is already installed. It just has to update to a long, long list of files. And then you will have to verify your Steam account again, but at least your installation problem is over.
