Here is a preview of a "map in progress" for the 1up Zombie Challenge server, called Compound.
This map encourages Blue Team (Survivors) to spread out and cover each other more than usual. This will cause the zombie players to work together more and attack from multiple angles.
The map features 5 Control Points that Close Gates while a Blue player is standing on or near them. The Gates can be wall jump-climbed over but this will only allow upto 2 zombies at a time to cross a single fence, slowing down the assault. Skilled players can use the outside wall supports to make a 3 point wall jump that will allow them to cross the fence giving them quick access to more places in the compound. However the electric fence will give them quite a jolt causing them to suffer a little damage as a result. Also the sound of their pain may alert Blue players to their ascent over the wall.
As zombie players kill off Blue team survivors, the gates will come down and allow more players through at a time.
Therefore, It is very important for the Blue team to maintain a presence at all Control points in the map. This can become difficult as players will have a need for ammo at times which can be found In the center of the compound.
Leaving a control point will shut the gate associated with it.
Control points are oriented in such a way as to provide the most cover for other control points, more than for themselves. This emphasizes cooperative team-play to maintain a successful defense.
One special Control point causes A tower to be raised which allows for several players to be fully removed from possible attack. However, like a gate, if the control point is compromised, this tower will lower down slowly to the waiting zombie horde at the bottom.
The images below are missing details, Proper lighting, Terrain, and a decent skybox. I've been working on this for a week now , and it's about to go Beta

I don't want to make a promise i can't keep, but I think* it's going to be ready by this weekend. I'll make another Post before it's release with an attached pk3 of the map. Saturday after practice, there will be a play testing session if anyone want's to help out with some testing :D

Hmm... Think once my mario map is done i might be able to test it on ur server? im sure quite a few 1ups will want to test it, and theres a few ppl out of the clan that wanted to try it. I dont have a server to test the map on

Sure, that's what the dev server is for. I can't allow too many people on my server though, my bandwidth is limited, I think I can support about 8 people on at once, and that's it. Let me know when your map is ready for testing.

Hmm well i know dougy really wants to try it, i have a friend irl who wanted to test it, and pyrite automatically gets to play on it cuz its his server :p

I thought it was really small at first, cause of the close ups, but as a big map amazing job! Cant wait to play on it. Everyone's been talking about how there aren't any even maps for zombies and blues

Tank if you need a model you can ask but you have to wait till i get back home 8-9 days before i can even start
need a ghost a pumpkin LOL maybe even custom funstuff for your map just ask
i would like to ask of Venom's assistance in putting textures on the models since i cant figure out how :D
also if you want another server to put it on i have one (not homeran)(a real server) but you will have to wait till the end of my
vacation
it wont be in zombie mode though :o and if i am correct it can have up to 16 people :D

EDIT: I played on it. well, ran around in it. Its even awesome-er than i imagined!! there were a few missing textures though

Well I missed the test but thanks to dougy leaking it, I got to check it out finally. Very nice looking map. I ran around and used all the control points. Very cool. I want to play it with zombies now.

Looks awesome! Seems bright though. I am used to that SNK look where it's real f'in dark. Can't wait to play it!

Was going to say it needs to look darker, but then i saw your post later down, looks good.

Beta 4 Changes:
1.Optimized and re-textured Terrain
2.Added some clips to assist in climbing
3.All new Crane Lift system :D
4.Added ambient sounds and changed all of the gates to sound heavy.
Things to Include in Beta 4
1.All new lighting scheme
2.Possibly a better skybox
3.Trees
4.POSSIBLY a countdown timer for zombies. (blue players will not be allowed to leave the base and zombies have 2:30 minutes to win the round or they die and blue wins)
5.some more sounds and effects.
6.More Detail.

Don't forget the missing textures on the ladder beneath the compound, and the missing textures on the ammo boxes.
And I don't know why, but these latest screenshots don't look as good as vb3, I've heard from many others that the lighting in vb3 is perfect and you shouldn't change it, the surreal effect vb3 has is very soothing on the eyes. Just some feedback, take it what you will.

I take a look at his map and get super angry its so great its gonna be played all the time and no one will see my map

I am gonna go home and put tons of detail into my map and use blender to make hills and trees :P maybe i can get it to be
1/4 of a 1/4 of a 1/4 as good as your map :D

played v4 of this map looks good but the zombie sound seriously makes me crap myself, im sorry tank but i really dont like that sound :'( maybe replace with "this town is becoming like a ghost town instrumental version" or the "The T-virus has been injected into the airstream" sample
