Title: How to make a Urban Terror gun.
Post by: Kappasecondus on February 12, 2012, 07:36:13 AM
Ok guys! That's my first modelling tutorial (On Urt).

(Optional): When working on modelling, it's better to have 3D object converter

In that tutorial i'll explain you how to make a simple weapon and how to put it inside the game (yeah).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeu9mc4RkK0# (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeu9mc4RkK0#) <------(That's the BEST tutorial of the world)

When you finished your gun, export it into 3ds or .obj format.
Download that: http://www.quakeunity.com/file=481 (http://www.quakeunity.com/file=481)

After is all done, run the program yo just downloaded. Is an md3 file viewer and exporter. MD3 is the file extension that Urt uses for the weapons. Click on Import, choose the file. On the left you'll see a preview. If it's little, You should have scaled the weapon (in blender, 3d studio, maya etc) bigger. If you're satsfactied of the weapon dimension, click on export.

All done, the MD3 is exported! Place it inside the game and be proud of your gun!

Also, there is an md3 export script for blender that will let you just export the model from blender, but it is a little tricky because you have to have it on the right frame when exporting it :/.

Anyways looks like a nice tutorial :P.

XD

Anyway, when i started modelling, (that's about quake 2, in 1998 i think) Blender was a new program, veeeery basic and it needed to know Phyton for use it. Anyway there was a direct import/export (File--->Import/Export) for the MD2, and later with Quake 3 a direct importer/exporter for MD3. When Blender 2.45 was released and there wasn't a direct export I was like that  :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:  Then i discovered that an angel named NPherno made a tool tat allows you in few clicks to import not ust from 3ds and obj, but by ase etc etc
