Back in the days of metal this was the mosh pit madness. Slayer was a big favorite, right before grunge and right before Metalica went from a metal band to a near-clam rock bank. Other bands like Motley Crue made the transformation from heavy medal to clam rock (compare the Shout at the Devil album with the introduction of their fifth album, Dr. Feelgood).



Manowar was a diehard metal band with powerful songs such as the messages in the song "Hail and Kill":
