UrT using Phone's Internet (3G)
« on: June 19, 2011, 04:34:16 AM »
I just played Urban Terror on superts for a little bit using a PC tethered to my Droid X. My ping was about 140-160 ms. There was a little bit of noticeable lag, but not too bad, definitely playable. This was using Verizon 3G.

This is true, I was watching the bandwidth used, and it was like 400KB for 15 min of playing time.

Yeah I guess. I just opened google in firefox and watched the meter start cranking an said hell no. Urt would be lighter. Could cap too :)

I just share wifi to my wife since we set her up with a 200meg a month plan. (she's usually home all day)

If you get this working without paying Sprint for tethering or rooting the phone let me know how you did it. I would like to tether to my EVO.

Lol that's awesome.   i wish I could play it on my iphone with my wireless internet connection.  Would probably get better resolution and FPS than I do with my POS computer, pahaha

I play with pings like this anyway! Thanks to the Atlantic 8)

I've had to tether my N1 loads of times when my internet dies, and about all I can do with it is IRC and UrT.
If you've got a halfway decent signal, it's actually pretty playable, all things considered.

I've noticed Windows 7 is a bit of pain in the ass to USB tether at times, but setting up a wifi hotspot on my N1 seems to work a treat... except every time I do it, W7 thinks it's a completely new network ¬_¬ I dunno if wifi hotspot settings are in vanilla Android but it's definitely in CyanogenMod 7 if anyone's interested.
