Square endcap/bevel issue

Not sure if anyone has noticed this, but if you follow any of the tutorials on square endcaps/bevels...they don't work.

Well for me anyways. I make a brush, select square endcap, and nothing. Any ideas?

when i click that it just makes a patchmesh made into a semi-circle

lol, My endcap makes a semicircle (which is correct) but the square endcap function does absolutely nothing, which is highly frustrating.
