Freeze tag?

Do any of you play on the freeze tag servers? If not, why not? If you do, why do you?

I'll kick it off. Freeze tag is cool (in TS at least) because when you die, you have the hope of someone rescuing you. It's like... bowling with bumpers. I kinda like Zombie for the same reason. It adds another layer of complexity on top of the game that gives you additional opportunities to practice skills that would be useful in a regular TS game.

From what Ron's told me, he has no plans on making a freeze tag mod.

While it is fun it gets boring pretty fast. I don't like it much myself.

I used to play freeze tag in Quake3, but I hated the being frozen stuff. Back then I was only a TDM player.
I am sure it is an exciting mod, but I am focusing on other things. If the mod was available I would put up a server, but I am dedicating other resources to developing some other projects right now.

I used to play it on Quake 3 too.. Instagib (railguns only)

I got on there and represented 1up just now. 26 and 6

It's a good thing that you don't start too many projects.. Far better to stay focused on what you have in the works currently.

I'm considering writing such a mod. Good to hear at least a few people would be interested and it might get some play. Hmmmm.

Now I wanna open this up and ask: What is your favorite game mode and why?

Mine is CTF but since the 1up CTF server has switched to Zombie Assault I can guess it isn't the most popular game mode around here. I like CTF because I like the objective and the respawn. I've been playing more TS lately because I want to get competitive at PUG but I still can't say it has grown on me. I have a TDM "Dressing Room"-only server that I play on when I just want to practice my aim but I can't say the game mode does anything for me other than give me a way to focus on practicing other things. CTF is still king in my book. Maybe I'm just stuck in my ways

I'm playing more TDM/TS/FFA since I'm trying to put in some time on 1up servers but my heart belongs to CTF.

I am and always will be a TS player. I think it's the best game mode to learn how to play better. If you make a mistake and die then you are now watching players that (could) be better than you so you're learning how THEY play and thus you get better as well. But pub ts has gone downhill. Can't find many populated servers anymore.

I also like Bomb but I don't play it that often. Every time I've gone into a pub bomb it's full of such bad players I don't even try so I feel like I've gotten worse when I leave.

As for TDM, eh. It's nice if you just want to shoot and shoot and keep on shooting but it's not something I play often.

I like CTF but most pub CTF's are always stacked teams or full of smoke spam, so I tend to stay away from it.

FTL is another cool game mode I like but it doesn't get much attention from the masses.

FFA is just plain bad. I hate it with a passion.

It's alright. Im tired of mods, I wish 1up would stop focusing so much attention on bringing new people in through mods and such and take a step back and try to strengthen the ties between each member, im not a good example of this,  but it's also why I spread myself thin with 1up. I miss the old 1up not to say im impressed with the strides that it has made. Negative karma lezzgo

You play the freeze tag mod just like TS.. And when your frozen you can still spec other players.. So you don't lose much of the TS feel except now you can kill (freeze) someone and then bait their teammates into more kills (Freezes)

I know its off topic, but I would like to know is there any other freeware games similar to Urban Terror, which can also help improve skills ? If you guys have anything in mind please do let me know, I want to try out other games and work on my skills.
