Well that GtkRadiant program is complicated...

Though I didn't know what to expect in the first place.

I wonder if there are any other programs that can be used to make Urban Terror maps.

I pretty sure that an "completely simple & easy to use" program does not exist.

Hm...I wonder what program 1up used to make their maps?...was it GtkRadiant or- something else?

Well the GtkRadiant program is blowing my mind.

So, I'm gonna need to look into getting a map-making team together to start making the ideas into reality.

Volunteers who know how to make a map are welcome...

GTK is really confusing at first, and still is, to a degree--I worked with Flame for hours on a map that still didn't turn out very well.  Try our map making board if you're confused--lots of good tutorials and starter information.  Good luck with your map.

I've seen 1up's Xmas map, and that map looks like they were able to finish making their map that turned out what they wanted it to be.

If they used GtkRadiant to it, then I'll have to find persons that can do something like that (by that I mean know how to use GtkRadiant effectively.

So those other 3rd party maps were built with GtkRadiant too?

After looking though the forums, Someone said that some 3rd party maps were made with google sketch-up.
Something about exporting the file to a "blender" or something...

I need more information about that...

i tried looking all over the internet and i am still unable to find blenders for transferring the.skb to .map
all i found out it that you need to export the textures preloaded into google sketch-up and turn them in to .tga and put them in to shaderlist.txt
i already have a few models and maps preloaded into google sketch-up you could have some if you want

X-mas map was made by Tank my brother. And yes.. We use GTKRadiant..  If there were a truely better option. It would be common place. It's overwhelming at first but it has all the tools to create what you want. You may scrap a few maps at first but your learning where everything is and how to use it along the way so it's not really a waste.

Invest the time to read/watch any tutorial you can find. You'll be glad you did.

The first map you make should simply be a room... a square small room.. Where you can tinker with all the different options and have a very fast compile time. Try out doors.. lights.. shaders.. sound..  You will learn quickly.

I know, right?  I just finished my first map and I gotta say, wow, what a process.

knowing some fundementals makes all the difference.  my only previous experience was with UnrealED 3.0 and from my perspective GtkRadiant 1.5.0 rocks.  very easy to get used to, you just have to get used to it.

keep at it, its a lot of fun.  my next map will be even better!  :P

In Google Sketchup convert it to an .3ds
In Blender import it, and export as .map or .ase
In GTKRadiant open/import it.

If you dont feel like downloading Blender you can send your .3ds to me.

thank you flame when i get home i will send you some of the .3ds (as my connection is awful) to you just some basic ones though that only took 2 hours to see how it goes
