I played quake 3 for 12 years. What maps have you made? We certainly could use some mapping help around here.

Ronald, if you played quake 3 for 12 years, and quake 3 was published in 1998 (the pre-release), it means that you played quake 3 from 1998 to 2010.
I did many maps in the development team in VaR clan, when I'll find these I'll show them to you   ;)

I played quake3 since the day it was released, and I still play it. I even have 3 mods that remain in development from ioquak3 source. I remember having a 65" projection television in 2001, where I would take long mouse and keyboard extensions, and use an s-cable to have video output from my computer to the television. I would hook up and blast the sound super loud while I played q3ctf1 for hours on end. OSP was my favorite mod.

I just wanted to know the names of the maps you made. You probably know that stuff off the top of your head.

I've made a map called acquarium with another great italian mapper, many CTF maps called KappaCTF1, KappaCTF2 ecc ecc. I've made a colosseum and, my proud map, the best I've ever made is MisteryCastle. That map required ALL the 2001 and we were 4 mappers with basic modeling skills (plus 2 modeler). It's a series of riddles and enigmas that makes you find some buttons that open certainly door in which you can discover new things and button by button, at the end you find the tresure: all weapons (includes bfg and grappling hook), plus quad damage and yellow armor and etc etc etc etc etc  etc etc etc etc, and 1.000.000.000 points.
The "history" tells about a king disappeared from the castle and who finds the treasure will become the new king.

sounds like if you are willing your maps could somewhat easily be reconfigured for zombie assalt :)

I doubt it would be able to be easily reconfigured Q3 and Urt have their differences :P

On a side note, you sound like an interesting mapper :D

I am a Mapper, Coder, Modeler, and Texture Designer, even though I am not that good at texture design  :P.

Q3 maps run in urt just fine.

Since he has the .map files it would just be a matter of making placing the assault triggers and teleporters.
By the way, Flame, how is your assault map coming along? I am interested to play it on the Zombie Assault server.

The quake 3 maps can be played in urban terror just as urban terror maps can be played in quake 3, that cause ALL the quake3 derivated games uses .bsp for brushes. The texture matter can be solved just by opening the texture pk3 (with pakscape or winzip, but i absolutely recommend pakscape) and copy and pasting them from the texture pack in the other game (that just in the case of the .bsp, witha  .pk3 the textures are stored in the pack).
This clan seem very interesting. I very doubted there was so many expert players that know how to make mods, map and models. The medium age here is veeery low. (I'm young too but I saw 14-years-old players, that i thought all playing Call of Duty)
@Ronaldlee: the .map are very simple to obtain from a .bsp, you just should convert them with q3map2.

Omg, and you're already a coder, mapper and modeler? I thought I was the youngest. (started making my first mod in quake 2 at the age of 14.)
You're the best.

okay, I gotta question:  do you have a map testing server or do I have to do that independently?

I haven't actually looked to see if the christmas special server is still up but it looked really deserted last I knew.  Anyway, I'm learning radiant and have a map I wanted to see if anyone thought was fun... i think its maybe too big and I'm thinking about scraping it just starting over with something new.  I know there are problems with it and could use some quick pointers from anyone who is a pro.

so where (if at all) do you test/share alpha maps?

yes I know I'm a noob... point, laugh or whatever.  get it outta yer system.
