i had some sweet ass shots... and i've got a 6.5 MB demo of all 3 maps which i doubt anyone will watch. but i have the best plays cut into .avi files, which are huge. currently im working on making them smaller so i can combine them into one sexy video and post it on j00toob.

theyre like anywhere from 15 mb to 500MB and my internet sawks.

I made an AVI and it was 1GB.. So i gave up on the ingame AVI creator. Any tips?

well set res to 640x800 or w/e that lowest one was.
set cl_avimotionjpeg to 1 (i think?)
set cl_aviframerate (once again, i think thats the value) w/e it is default is 25, i set mine to 20
then just don't record ur whole demo, watch multiple times so u know when the good parts are, and bind some function keys to (bind f5 video bind f6 stopvideo) then just have your autoexec rebind your shiz

after that you're supposed to compress it somehow (not .rar/.zip, as in still .avi, just poopier) and i'm still at this stage wondering exactly what to do.

Windows Movie Maker, then upload it to Youtube because once it is on Youtube you can download in mpeg format.

I used Video Edit Magic 4.3, but I also use Windows Movie Maker sometimes.
Keep in mind that I am not good at making movies anyway.

I found that the best way to make quality movies in UrT is to use Nexu's config found here

Clears all the clutter off the screen, good settings for capture and the mouse bindings are nice for capturing and timescale.  I recommend having a second install of UrT (copy of the folder) for demo review and video capture.

Also, remember for youtube, videos should be at encoded at 30 FPS (they throw out anything over that when they encode ur upload) and probably around 1280x720 res (could do 1080P but it's not much better for the size)

There's a setting to capture compressed AVI versus uncompressed.  My guess ur capturing uncompressed

this video was captured with nexu's cfg at 1600x1440 resolution then put together using Nero Express (Windows Movie Maker will work just fine) and encoded as an mpeg at 1280x720  402 MB for about 3min of video
